Conclusions

Sophisticated as well as simple supply air terminals are suitable for heating by ventilation. No specific type or position is required to fulfil usual comfort and indoor air quality criteria. More important are general design criteria for ventilation systems, such as minimizing pressure losses. If possible, extract air transfer devices should not be positioned at the same level as the supply air terminal, especially if they are placed on opposite sides of the room.

For large rooms, differences between supply air terminals with large throw and simple devices are expected to become more distinct. Simple grids require an extra device to adjust the volume flow.
